There was some great blues music playing which we enjoyed, whilst having some delicious champagne with a mushroom amuse bouche. All the food, which included, halloumi, smoked mackerel, hake, monkfish for starters and mains was of the best quality. Nigel and Debbie were very much on top of their game in front of house and cooking such scrumptious food. The desserts were equally appealing and memorable. Very good expresso as well. Truro is lucky to have this first class restaurant, thank you for looking after us so well.

We appreciate having... read more the choice. The service was good. Our hostess/waitress who did not introduce herself is very efficient. Service was unhurried but not too drawn out and attentive without being intrusive Our first two courses were good, particularly the mushroom course. It was beautifully creamy, and the Polenta crout was excellent What let the meal down was the beef main. We found the beef too stringy, and although the roast potatoes were good, the boiled carrots and white cabbage veggies were rather dismal. My partner called the mushroom duxelle pointless, I just found it tasteless . Overall, it was very disappointing. We had expected it to be the highlight As I have said, our first two courses were good and our pudding was enjoyable too. I loved the vanilla cream. Though my partner said it would have been nice to have a biscuity thing with it. I think that would work The decor is quite simple which we liked. It's a relaxing place to eat. The tables are a good size and the chairs are comfortable. I hate having to sit on poor quality ones. I would recommend this restaurant, but not sure we would return. Perhaps I am a philistine when it comes to beef as I am not keen on it being rare, especially when it's difficult to cut as it was here. Having a sharper knife would have helped

From the minute we walked in, it was faultless, the greeting was welcoming and very informative on both the food and wine. Then came the food presented beautifully and tasted even better than it looked ( we eat with our eyes). We had the set menu because it had everything we wanted and at £36 for 3 courses it was Michelin star food and a great price. It had a great wine list again quality at a good price we chose a Spanish Albariño and at just £42 it was one of the best we have had in all our years visiting Spain. We have eaten at all the big named restaurants old and new in Cornwall and this is one if not the best. We will be going back very soon for dinner and have already booked the Sunday lunch which I have been told is an experience in its self.

The restaurant decor; the warm welcome by Debbie the hostess... read more who then morphs into Debbie an incredible waitress - nothing was too much trouble; our small dietary requirements were handled quietly and thoughtfully and her service was impeccable! Somehow she and Nigel have managed to create a warm friendly atmosphere without any loss of table privacy. Then what is there to say about Chef Nigel except subtle; brilliant and the creator and provider of a real Sunday treat. We've eaten at Tabbs for many years and this partnership really works. Whatever the menu we always want to return to try yet another delicious meal. Our warmest thanks Debbie and Nigel - no praise is too great! Keep going!!
