In 1991 the idea of Tabb's was born. The original 30-cover restaurant was situated in the seaside village of Portreath on the North coast of Cornwall. A challenging move as the county had precious little in the way of gastronomy at that time. However word quickly spread and the business thrived for 15 years. During this time Nigel developed his skills as a chocolatier creating an infamy for his petit fours and progressing to Nigel embarking on a tour of Cornwall with demonstrations telling "The Story of Chocolate."
Tabb's Truro, the new venture, proudly opened its doors in November 2005 after a labour of love to completely rework what was a run down local pub. Now their customers old and new can access Nigel’s accomplished cooking more easily. With weekly changing menus that reflect the best of seasonal and local produce, Tabb's is one of the most exciting restaurants in Truro. The dining room is chic featuring lilac walls, leather high-backed chairs and slate floors. The tables are linen-clothed and set with the finest glassware and crockery.
